Tuesday Reading – Jared Yates Sexton’s “Yankee”

Moments before sunrise in Guilford, Connecticut. (via slack12)

I thought I would start throwing some links up to fiction that I really enjoy and Jared Yates Sexton’s “Yankee” popped up on Hobart a few weeks ago.  Jared and I used to play softball together at Southern Illinois University, but I am very sure the Buck in the story is not inspired by me.

The manliness of my name comes through in much more subtle ways, though it is always best to put a southern drawl on the name Buck as you pronounce it.  I have had many New Englanders  pause and say, “Bach?”  I always tell them, “Pronounce it like you are from the South.”

Check out the story HERE.

Check out Jared Yates Sexton’s new book of short stories –  An End to All Things.
