Tuesday Reading

Tuesday Reading – Charles Brockden Brown, “Somnambulism. A Fragment.”

The newest chapter of my dissertation has me revisiting old loves with Edgar Huntly by Charles Brockden Brown.  Brown was the first American novelist to live off of his earnings (1790’s-1800’s).  He wrote these amazing Gothic novels that discussed the science of the time alongside religion, the frontier, and the problems of the new republic.

Here is one of his short stories, “Somnambulism. A Fragment.”
